Access to healthy food is critical to the well-being of seniors, especially those who are living on a fixed income. In uncertain economic times, many local residents face the challenge of putting food on their tables. Southern New Hampshire Services is able to expand the availability of healthy food through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP).

CSFP ensures that eligible seniors, 60 years and older, receive the highest quality USDA approved foods available. The program is a great cost-saving addition to a senior’s monthly food budget that can save up to $50 a month while contributing to a healthy lifestyle.

The CSFP food package is designed to supplement the participant’s monthly nutritional needs. Program recipients can select from the foods at our no cost shopping areas located in Manchester and Nashua. Pre-packed food boxes are also available at each of the remote certification sites throughout Hillsborough and Rockingham County.

Seniors unable to go to the food distribution sites themselves can designate a “proxy” (friend, neighbor or relative) who is able to pick up their food allocation for them.

CSFP is available to seniors who meet the federal income guidelines. It is available to all regardless of participation in other nutrition programs, such as New Hampshire Food Stamps. Registration is quick and easy and starts with a simple phone call. It takes less than five minutes to sign up for the program. CSPF eligibility is confirmed with a visual confirmation of the senior’s proof of income, residence and date of birth. A photo ID is also required to sign up for the program.
