Food Pantry Sites

Food pantries located in the three Rockingham County Outreach Offices provide food allotments to households facing severe economic hardship in areas where other locally-based food pantries are under-stocked or unavailable.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

AGES:  All
INCOME GUIDELINES: Clients must be under 240% Federal Poverty Guidelines to receive TEFAP food; no income eligibility for private donations
GEOGRAPHIC AREA:  Rockingham County
PROGRAM COST:  No Cost

Community Gardens

 

The Community Gardens Program is an initiative of SNHS and Hillsborough County to provide garden plots to interested individuals on county land located in Goffstown.  Income eligible Hillsborough County residents are given priority to available plots and are provided a plot free of charge. A nominal donation is requested of community members exceeding the income threshold.  Benefits of the program include greater access to fresh local produce, lower grocery bills and an increased sense of community.   Up to 50 garden plots are provided through the Community Gardens Program each year.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans, including the elderly, by providing emergency food assistance at no cost. A program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), TEFAP provides bulk commodities of food to food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens and non-profit charitable organizations throughout Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties.

INCOME GUIDELINES:  Income guidelines are determined by the organization distributing TEFAP food
GEOGRAPHIC AREA: Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties
PROGRAM COST:  No Cost

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

CACFP Sponsorship is available to Family Child Care Homes, Child Care Centers,  AT RISK Programs, Homeless Shelters and Adult Care Centers, to receive reimbursement for the meals that they serve to the children and adults in their care. Southern New Hampshire Services is a sponsor of the program for the State of New Hampshire.

The following information provides details about the services provided to Child Care Centers and Family Care Homes. If you are interested in information about the Child and Adult Care Food Program, please contact the CACFP Coordinator (contact info below).

How does CACFP work?

FAMILY CHILD CARE HOMES/CHILD CARE CENTERS

  • We will use existing financial documentation to determine your eligibility for either Tier I or Tier II status for Family Day Care Homes. For Child Care Center, we will use Family Income.
  • You will use the educational resources provided to prepare and serve USDA approved  meals to the children in your care.
  • You will receive a reimbursement check at the following rates:
